2. Causation

That causes produce effects is absolutely undeniable A. It is also undeniable that everything that has a beginning also has a cause, since something cannot cause itself.

According to the second law of Thermodynamics, heat always travels from a warmer region to a colder one without exception. Since our universe contains regions that are very hot, and others that are very cold, we must deduce that the universe is not infinitely old (or else the temperature of the universe would be uniform throughout). In other words, the universe must have had a beginning. As we just noted, everything with a beginning also has a cause. What is the universe's cause? The God of the Bible a likely candidate as the causeless cause that created our universe.

2. Causation - Notes and References

A. Anyone who denies that causes produce effects need only be asked why they are raising their objection. If their reponse begins with "Because…", then even those that deny causation as a valid principle must employ it in the denial process itself. It is therefore self-refuting to argue against causation.
