52. No Mention of Paul’s Death

Without a doubt, Paul the great evangelist and missionary is the central figure in the book of Acts. Strangely, the book ends abruptly with Paul in a Roman prison awaiting trial. From earliest times, church history maintained that Paul was martyred in Rome under the emperor Nero A. If this is true, then the absence of any mention of Paul’s execution in Acts probably indicates that the book was completed before Paul lost his life.

52. No Mention of Paul’s Death - Notes and References

A. “So it happened that this man, the first to be announced publicly as a fighter against God, was led on to slaughter the apostles. It is related that in his reign Paul was beheaded in Rome itself and that Peter was also crucified, and the cemeteries there still called by the names Peter and Paul confirm the record.” Eusebius, “The Church History”, 2.25 (Translation by Paul L. Maier, Kregel Publications, 1999, p. 85)
