Hollywood’s Getting Closer![]() “Now they’ve really gone and done it. After precariously clinging to the fossil record for the past two outings, the filmmakers behind the Ice Age franchise decided to scrap the facts surrounding evolution altogether and embrace gratuitous abuse of our own history. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs puts woolly mammoths and T-Rex in the same frame, despite being separated by approximately 60 million years of geological time.” What “facts” of evolution could she possibly be talking about? There are no “facts” of evolution! Evolution is a faith – a belief system which interprets the facts as though evolution were true. Evolution is assumed to be correct at the onset of the investigation, prior to any analysis of the observable facts. Monk’s comment about the distance in time between the dinosaurs and ice age creatures is representative of those taught what (not how) to think. Dinosaur bones don’t come with labels on them telling us how old they are. They are assigned an age based on the assumption that evolution has actually occurred. How can these same people, who date the fossils according to their belief that evolution has occurred, then turn around and claim that the fossil record confirms their theory? The fact that such circularity escapes the notice of these apparently well-educated, intelligent people is proof of the incredible power of long-term, concentrated indoctrination (both in the public education system and the media). Monk’s additional comment about depicting dinosaurs with ice age creatures as “an abuse of our own history” is almost laughable. It’s also typical. In the absence of any real science to support the evolution story, devotees often resort to appealing to our moral sensibilities, if not downright fear mongering, to prop up their scientifically bankrupt worldview. Take, for example, the often-repeated but ill-supported claim that belief in creation will impede crucial scientific and medical investigation. Of course, as biblical creationists, we have no trouble at all with the film depicting dinosaurs living contemporaneously with mammoths (and by extension, human-kind). According to the Bible, all such land dwelling animals were created by God on the sixth day of creation week. I for one applaud the filmmakers’ courage to exercise their creative licence and to emancipate themselves from their own evolutionary indoctrination. I also appreciate the fact that millions of kids will be treated to images of these animals living contemporaneously – images much more in tune with biblical history. Such images can only help combat the Monday to Friday evolutionary indoctrination programs presented by our public tax-supported schools. Keep it up, Hollywood. With this latest instalment to the Ice Age series you’ve moved closer to the truth. If you use the Bible as your guide, you’ll get there that much quicker. |
