Human Rights… Casualties of Humanism
Caveats aside, I’m tired of the stupidity of our humanist government. It is dangerous, and it makes me angry. I just finished reading an article about a man who has been formally charged… for defending himself1. According to sources, the man was in his home when three individuals firebombed it while uttering death threats. (If you’re an animal lover, I’m sure you’ll appreciate that they burnt his dog house). I think it’s safe to say the man had just cause to think he was in danger. Duh! The man, a former firearms instructor, grabbed a pistol for which he was fully, legally compliant, he ran outside, and fired a couple of warning shots into the air. The entire occurrence was caught on camera. In cooperation with police, he turned over the evidence, including the video feeds which were from his own security cameras. Here is the punch line…he now faces various firearms related charges. I have to ask…For what?! How does this have anything to do with government? Our humanist government foolishly asserts that rights come from them, not from God. They follow the Hegelian philosophy of the state as god walking the earth. When this happens, it is dangerous, and it is stupid! If there is no God, if we are no more than a higher order of animal species, which is intrinsically part of the ideology of modern humanism, then what can be more natural than defending oneself from harm? The Humanist Manifesto flatly states there is no God to save us, we must save ourselves. Animals do it all the time. One would have to be blind not to witness this fact. On the other hand, if God does exist then man has intrinsic value, as well as the right to defend himself. Not only is this what occurred, but the firearms instructor did so not by taking the law into his own hands, but by mercifully using his pistol to frighten the criminals away. This is more consistent with a Godly view of the sanctity of life. No matter which angle we approach this from, the man in question did nothing “wrong” so far as we can judge. The man defending his home did everything he had not only been trained to do, but exactly as he had qualified to train others to do. He complied with every law of confiscation…err, I mean, make that registration, the government required. He acted not out of anger or desperation, but intelligently assessed the situation first hand before returning to get his pistol and use it, not to harm, but as a deterrent to frighten away the attackers. That he has been arrested and charged for this is not only a miscarriage of justice, it is completely contradictory to the principles the powers that be claim are ultimately true. I can’t fault the police for trying to do their jobs, as agents of the government, following the rules of engagement set forward by those who are deluded by their denial of their creator. Is it because our society denies the Giver of rights that they arrogantly trust themselves alone to know what is best for everyone else? Then they attempt to control everyone else in logically inconsistent ways; for example, arresting a man defending himself against danger, which is completely what we expect as a natural instinct. This is a prime example of stupidity. The higher ideal being challenged here is equality. Under God all mankind is created equal. We have an immaterial component which forms the foundation for this reality. However, under the banner of materialism, the foundation for our humanism, there is no way which this is apparent or justified. Some are smarter, stronger, or faster. Some aren’t any of these, they’re just luckier. Those are the ones “destined” to survive. If there are no immaterial realities, those are the ones who belong on the top of the food chain. I am not anti government. I pray for our government to get it right. They have a difficult job to do, and for it we ought to respect them. However, big government based on arrogant self important denials of transcendent truth is only going to make things worse for everyone, as history has proven.
