Is it human? 1470 was pieced together from fragments and is subject to a wide variety of interpretations. The skull itself has "evolved" since its discovery, when it's human-like affinities were stressed. Initially the face was quite flat, giving it a human shape, and its braincase was said to be 800 cc's. Later, the braincase was lowered to 750 cc's and the face was pushed out, giving it a more ape-like appearance. Because of the fragmental nature of the find, it's difficult to say what we have here. What is significant about this find, however, is the way the evolutionist community was able to twist the evidence, both the date and morphology, to fit the evolution story.
